Sections

VESTA sections are educational interest groups within the membership, and are recognized as a Section of the Association upon approval of the Executive Committee.

Sections establish goals and activities annually in such areas as curriculum professional development, and policy advice to the VESTA Executive Committee in these areas as well as any other matters of general concern to the Section.

Area Counsellors

The VESTA Area Counsellors Section meets regularly to discuss matters of interest and concern to area counsellors working in Vancouver.

Learning Support Specialist Teachers

VESTA’s Learning Support Specialist Teachers Section meets regularly to discuss matters of interest and concern to teachers of students who require specialized support. The Section also examines trends in Resource and ELL teaching in Vancouver schools. ELL Provincial Specialist Association (PSA)

Gifted Education

The Gifted Education Section was first recognized in 2005, and meets regularly to discuss matters of interest and concern to teachers of gifted students or students with exceptional abilities.

Psychologists

The VESTA Psychologists Section meets regularly to discuss matters of interest and concern to teacher-psychologists working in Vancouver public schools. BCTF Resources

Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs)

The VESTA SLP Section meets regularly to discuss matters of interest and concern to speech/language pathologists working in Vancouver public schools. BCTF Resources

Teacher-Librarians

The VESTA Teacher-Librarians Section meets regularly to discuss matters of interest and concern to teacher-librarians working in Vancouver public schools.

Technology

The VESTA Technology Section meets regularly to discuss matters of interest and concern to teachers working with technology in Vancouver public schools. Issues of recent concern include BCeSIS, the VSB’s Computer Sustainability Plan and flexibility and choice around use of computers in schools.
